GIRLS, WE GOT THIS: DEADLINE WEEK

So, deadline week is fast approaching and it's easy to get overwhelmed from all the work you have probably put off the past few weeks. We have all been there. Wasting days, doing anything and everything other than work. But let me tell you one thing... this is the root of the problem causing all this stress! Do your future self a favour and  start now! Even if you only do a little bit every day, it's still something and will save yourself from having so much to do later on. 

 

One thing I like to do is plan out at least one thing I want to get done for the day. I'm a big fan of making lists and organising my time, but sometimes it can get overwhelming by setting yourself 1000 things to get done in a day. Instead, do it in little steps and set yourself one goal to achieve first. Once you do that, set yourself another. This is way to ease yourself into getting in the mindset of being productive and getting stuff done. There are moments where you might be waiting for 'motivation' to kick in, but truth be told, there will never be a perfect time that you will want to do work. I find that moments when you feel super motivated is so temporary. Once you ignore your emotions of not wanting to do work, and focus on actually doing it, then the motivation kicks in when you're in that work flow. 

 

Just remember, stressing out doesn't help anyone in any way. So instead, think of tactical ways to overcome these deadlines and try and not leave work until the last minute! Try giving yourself a deadline before the actual deadline so if worse comes to worse, you'll still have time to perfect your work and get it done in time! 

 

Give yourself a break- you deserve it! 

 

Yes that's right. During these tough times, you still have time to do other stuff that does not revolve around work. It's about prioritising and managing your time. Which I actually think is one of the hardest skills to learn, but it can be done! Don't think work has to consume your life, it's so important to still take care of yourself and manage a balanced lifestyle to keep yourself sane. So yes, you still have time for the gym, make healthy meals and to see your friends and family. I always believe there is enough time for everything, it's just how important you see them to make it happen. 

 

Empowered women empowering women.

 

Having a support system around you is so important when feeling stressed. The friends and family you have can make you feel so much better and is a reminder that you're not in this alone. To celebrate International Women's Day, I wanted to remind you that girls supporting girls is so important. It's so empowering to see all these amazing women around us achieving such amazing things and really inspires me to do more and work hard. What's even more important is not seeing other people's success as your failure or competition. There is room for everyone to be successful. So instead of competing against each other, we should encourage and support all the amazing things we are trying to achieve. 

 

Unfortunately, not everyone has the privilege of having a support system. A charity that especially supports women who are struggling is Young Women's Trust. This charity is amazing in representing young women aged 16-30 struggling to live with low or no pay in England and Wales trapped in poverty. It's easy to get stressed about the smallest things in life, and often we can forgot that there are people our age or younger struggling to live. So I really do encourage you all to support this charity as I believe it is super important, especially on International Women's Day. 

 

So to wrap this up, there are a few points to remember: 

1. Don't stress. It will be done in the end and stressing will only make the process harder. Try to even enjoy it!

2. Relax! Don't think your life has to be 24/7 work until the due date. Breath and give yourself a break. This can even increase your productivity level once you're in a better mindset. 

3. Girl power! Support each other get to their goals and good things will come back to you.
